You only have to worry about asbestos if it’s airborne. Airborne asbestos fibers and dust gets embedded in your lungs and won’t come back out. Since it’s a carcinogen, you can then develop lung cancer. But, if you live in a place that’s known to have asbestos in the walls or whatever, it won’t be a problem. They would just have to use special handling procedures for removing it and getting rid of it.
