Contact either your local trash department or fire department since it is technically hazardous waste.

Just put it in a garbage bag, tie it up, and toss it out with the rest of your garbage.

the best way is to google companies in your area for asbestos removal.
There are a range of prices and Im sure you’ll find something to help you out.
Website quote-
“Is asbestos removal a job for the do-it-yourselfer?

I dread saying this… but no. Current federal regulations have effectively made do-it-yourself asbestos removal impossible to do legally, which means… hiring a professional.”

So Im sure searching some up will be fine! Remember- be careful!

I wasn t aware that there was asbestos in lino sheet goods. In the VCT ( vinyl composition tiles) Are you sure? Any way , knowingly dumping in trash bag or improper disposal is a serious fine. Check your local dumps on what they suggest. GL

Hi if you are going to remove it.make sure you wear a mask on your face. You can buy them at home depot, loews etc. Did you get your linoleum tested? does it have black glue on the bottom? I think you should call your local dump and ask them. The risk with the linoleum is that it releases airborn particles. If you put the asbestos linoleum in a ziplock bag or several bags tied tightly (one inside of the other), you reduce the airborne contaminants. If you have already ripped it up, you have already released the airborne contaminants. I would suggest you put it in a bag and tie it up. then call the local dump for instructions.

How do you end up with a single piece?

So, rules & regs differ from state to state when it comes to asbestos removal. In our state, a homeowner CAN remove and dispose of it safely by ~ believe it or not ~ double bagging it and tossing it in the trash. To find out how your city disposes of asbestos, call the Department of Public Works and ask them. They may ask you to deliver it to a hazardous waste collection site.
