Danny m doesnt know what he is talking about and carl is more on track than any others here..Asbestos although is very dangerous, but one little fibre of it can harm you is totally wrong..simply wipe it down with wet rags to keep dust from flying..If one fiber would kill you I would be dead at the age of 13..I started painting 37years ago for my uncles and I still do to this day(52 years old)…In them days all the joint compounds and textures had asbestos in them and I have literaly sanded textured walls weeks and weeks on end in aprtment complexes..done the drywall work for years and years..then In the late 70′s they banned it, but let all manufacturers of alraedy stocked materials use thier supplies up..there were asbestos products being used into the early 80′s still..I have had way more than millions of fibres inhaled personally…even though not healthy, but I have had no major problems from this..being a miracle I guess..but there are many other painters that I worked side by side with in them days still around today…It is not good stuff.but not near as harmful for minor exposures as people let it out to be…Sacharin was supposed to cause cancer too… I still see people that use it walking around..the contractor..should be responsible for his dust to do the clean up..or should have plastic off the area he was sanding to start with to prevent it..but Your family will be safe..just do asd Carl said..wash your linens and clothes with dust on them and wipe down furniture etcetera with a damp rag…Danny shouldnt be going around calling people idots to start with..and probably has never even been near or seen asbestos..

If in fact it is asbestos dust, DON”T TOUCH IT.
move out of the house and get the local government inspection officials involved as soon as possible. Asbestos dust in nothing to fool around with and can not be cleaned up by you with normal cleaning equipment. Please listen as your children’s health is at stake.
